Temporary lane closure on 16th Avenue in City of Markham due to emergency watermain repairs

Construction will affect traffic from August 15 to the end of November
The Regional Municipality of York will temporarily reduce lanes on 16th Avenue between Warden Avenue and Kennedy Avenue in the City of Markham starting August 15 to allow for urgent watermain construction.

Timing of the repairs is impacted by federal legislation which controls when the Region can work in the two stream crossings that are located in the area.

During the repairs two westbound lanes and one eastbound lane will be open during the morning rush hour period. At all other times, the lanes will be operated as two eastbound lanes and one westbound lane to best serve traffic flow.

Motorists are advised to drive with extra caution while travelling through the construction zone. Road-side signs will be placed in the area to advise motorists of the reduced lanes.

The Regional Municipality of York thanks motorists for their patience.
