Lane closures remain in effect on Woodbine Avenue between Steelcase Road and Esna Park Drive

Repair efforts continue to fix broken watermain
NEWMARKET - The Regional Municipality of York will keep two of three northbound lanes closed on Woodbine Avenue from Steelcase Road to 200 metres north of Esna Park Drive in the Town of Markham, following an earlier watermain break.

The watermain break caused significant asphalt damage and swept sand and silt across the northbound lanes of Woodbine Avenue.

Staff from The Regional Municipality of York and the Town of Markham continue their repair efforts and advise that the damage will require lanes to be closed through to tomorrow and perhaps longer.

Electronic message signs have been placed along Woodbine Avenue and Steeles Avenue to warn motorists of traffic slowdowns in the area.

York Region thanks residents and motorists for their patience as these emergency repairs are undertaken. Updates will be provided when more information becomes available.
