“A strong and healthy economy will be essential to our Region as we continue to experience growth and change,” said York Region Chairman and CEO Bill Fisch. “An economic action plan will provide a framework to promote innovation, continuous learning and provide support to our businesses.”
The 2005 Economic Strategy helped develop partnerships to deliver business support programs through partnerships across our community. Some of these programs included the Business Innovation in Changing Times series for small businesses, Hospitality First online customer service training and career development tool and the Export Development and International Investment Program which connected local companies with international markets and investors.

The plan will be developed jointly with the Region’s Vision 2051 initiative, which will develop a blueprint to guide economic, social and community development in York Region over the next 40 years.
