New Agency Development Fund helps emerging community agencies enhance social services

York Region invites agencies to submit proposals for development funding
NEWMARKET - The Regional Municipality of York is inviting new and emerging not-for-profit agencies to apply for funding to help develop and build their organizations.
Funding is available under the New Agency Development Fund (NADF) to address one or more of the priority areas of homelessness, family and children strengthening, employment support or public health including sexual health, healthy lifestyles, nutrition and health protection.
York Region’s ongoing growth continues to put pressure on existing community agencies to provide an increasing level of support. NADF helps to overcome this by encouraging the development of new agencies to help support these growing needs.
NADF helps new and emerging community agencies develop in areas that include human resources, marketing, financial planning, strategic planning and staffing.
Since 2009, over $1.1 million has been provided to over 19 community agencies through NADF.
Not-for-profit agencies formed less than five years ago at the time of application are eligible for funding. Applications are available at and the deadline for submissions is Thursday, October 13, 2011, at 1 p.m.
An information meeting will be held on Friday, September 30, 2011, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the York Region Administrative Centre, Committee Room B, located at 17250 Yonge Street in the Town of Newmarket.
