Building a sound, safe and healthy workplace begins with you!

York Region hosts Workplace Wellness Conference
NEWMARKET – The Regional Municipality of York will host a Workplace Wellness Conference on Wednesday, May 4.

Town of Newmarket
●   Workplace Mental Health Specialist, Donna Hardaker
●   Leaders, managers, supervisors, labour representatives, wellness
     coordinators and human resource representatives from workplaces of all
     sizes across York Region
●   York Region Community and Health Services staff
Attendees will learn about the workplace risk factors and protective factors that impact mental health, best practices in establishing workplace initiatives that support mental health and how addressing these factors can improve compliance with the new provincial legislation around harassment and violence in the workplace (Bill 168).
This year’s guest speaker, Donna Hardaker, is a Workplace Mental Health Specialist at Canadian Mental Health Association.  Ms. Hardaker is a consultant, master trainer and program developer for the award-winning “Mental Health Works program”.  This program helps organizations create workplaces that promote mental health and implement strategies and approaches to improve awareness, communication and effectiveness in dealing with situations where an employee has or may have a mental health disability.  Ms. Hardaker is also a contributor to the Canadian Journal of Community Mental Health, Canadian Healthcare Manager, Moods Magazine, Network Magazine and CrossCurrents: the Journal of Addiction and Mental Health.
