Lane restrictions remain in effect for Bayview Avenue south of 16th Avenue in Town of Richmond Hill

Watermain break to keep lanes closed through evening rush hour
NEWMARKET - The Regional Municipality of York has lane restrictions in effect on Bayview Avenue between Blackmore Avenue and Pathlane Road in the Town of Richmond Hill following an earlier watermain break.

Staff from York Region have placed messaging signs on nearby sections of Major Mackenzie Drive, Highway 7 and 16th Avenue, advising motorists the effected section of Bayview Avenue is reduced to one lane in each direction.

Traffic signal timing is also being adjusted to assist traffic movement through the area.

Lane restrictions will remain in effect through the evening rush hour, and potentially longer, as the full extent of the damage is determined.

York Region will continue to monitor the situation as repair crews from the Town of Richmond Hill assess the watermain damage and make repairs to the pipe.

The Region will begin road repairs once the watermain is fixed.

York Region thanks residents and motorists for their patience as this emergency work continues.
