Water ban in effect for the communities of Kleinburg and Nashville in the City of Vaughan

All residents of The Regional Municipality of York are asked to conserve water during heat wave
NEWMARKET –The Regional Municipality of York has issued a temporary outdoor water use ban for the communities of Kleinburg and Nashville in the City of Vaughan.

Effective immediately, all outdoor use of municipal water is prohibited in Kleinburg and Nashville in order to maintain a sufficient supply of water for emergency use.  The water ban is in effect until further notice.

York Region will advise residents once the water ban has been lifted.

York Region monitoring data for Kleinburg and Nashville indicates a spike in water usage in the middle of the night, which can be attributed to the use of automatic in-ground sprinkler systems.  Each municipality is regulated by an outdoor water use bylaw.

Properties located on private well systems are exempt from the outdoor water use bylaw restrictions.  Tending to gardens using a watering can or watering via a rain barrel is also exempt from the ban.

The Regional Municipality of York thanks all residents and businesses for their ongoing efforts to conserve water, both now and throughout the year.
