The Regional Municipality of York seeks volunteers to serve on Accessibility Advisory Committee

 

NEWMARKETAre you interested in disability issues?  Are you interested in making a difference?

 

York Regional Council is looking for citizen volunteers to serve on the York Region Accessibility Advisory Committee.  The Committee advises Regional Council and York Regional Police on ways to make it easier for people with disabilities to use the Region’s programs and services.

 

The majority of members must be people with disabilities and must be either residents of York Region or part of an organization that serves York Region residents with disabilities. 

 

The term of service is from 2011 to 2014.

 

Member responsibilities include advising Council on accessibility planning opportunities and on matters pertaining to compliance with Ontario’s accessibility standards for transportation, customer service, employment, the built environment and information and communications.

The deadline for applications is Wednesday, December 1, 2010.
