Rebate program offered through Region’s Water for Tomorrow program
NEWMARKET – The Regional Municipality of York is expanding its successful rebate program to reward residents with $30 or $70 rebates on the purchase of eligible, water-efficient furnace-mounted humidifiers.
This initiative, a component of York Region’s award-winning Water for Tomorrow program, is designed to encourage residents to make environmentally-conscious decisions when purchasing new home appliances or fixtures. An inefficient, furnace mounted humidifier can waste as much as 200 litres of water per day.
“The positive response to the toilet rebate program has surpassed staff expectations, leading to the development of this new program,” said York Region Chairman and CEO Bill Fisch. “Water conservation is a necessity and Water for Tomorrow was created, in part, to educate our residents on the ways and benefits of saving water.”
The residential humidifier rebate program offers:
• $30 rebate for an approved furnace-mounted humidifier draining between 10 and 50 litres of water
• $70 rebate for an approved furnace-mounted humidifier draining less than 10 litres of water
Prior to purchase, residents are advised to consult the Water for Tomorrow website, www.waterfortomorrow.ca
for a list of eligible models and terms and conditions. Only those models on the list are eligible for rebate.
