Fact Sheet
AURORA - The Regional Municipality of York Police Services Board, York Regional Police and The Regional Municipality of York today officially opened the new Central Services Building in the Town of Aurora.

The new building, located at 47 Don Hillock Drive (southeast intersection of Wellington Street East and Leslie Street), replaces three previously leased facilities and is designed to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) silver standards.

“The York Regional Police Central Services Building is a new investment in our community,” said York Region Chairman and CEO Bill Fisch, a member of the York Regional Police Services Board. “I am very pleased that it was completed within budget and will save taxpayers money over leasing several facilities.”

The new $72.5-million police facility will house a centralized customer service counter for vulnerable sector screening and volunteer clearance letters, forensic laboratories, Investigative Service bureaus including Homicide and Hold Up, as well as Support Services including the Canine Unit and Traffic Services.

“This state-of-the-art facility will consolidate the policing tools and resources required for ensuring safe neighbourhoods and roadways across York Region,” said Town of Georgina Regional Councillor Danny Wheeler, Chair of the York Regional Police Services Board. “The building also meets stringent environmental design requirements and helps reduce our overall carbon footprint.”

“The new building is ideally situated in the Town of Aurora near Highway 404, giving our officers and policing units ready access to our local municipalities,” said York Regional Police Chief Armand La Barge.  “It will also give us a greater presence in the community by centralizing customer services for all York Region residents.”
