Woodbine Avenue Bypass to open in Town of Markham

Link to Woodbine Avenue to be completed after weekend road closure
NEWMARKET – The Regional Municipality of York will close Woodbine Avenue this weekend between
19th Avenue and Major Mackenzie Drive in the Town of Markham to complete a link from Woodbine Avenue to the new Woodbine Avenue Bypass.

The closure will take place from 10 p.m. on Friday, November 12 to 5 a.m. on Monday, November 15.

Local access will be maintained throughout the closure, and full east-west travel will be permitted on Major Mackenzie Drive, Elgin Mills Road and 19th Avenue.

Following the weekend construction, commuters who travel along this part of Woodbine Avenue will now be able to drive around the community of Victoria Square by travelling on the Woodbine Bypass.

The construction of the Woodbine Bypass is part of a larger project that will see Woodbine Avenue between 19th Avenue and Major Mackenzie Drive transformed from a Regional road into a local cul de sac under the jurisdiction of the Town of Markham.  The Woodbine Avenue Bypass will provide motorists a route around the growing Victoria Square community.

York Region thanks motorists and residents for their patience as the new bypass is put into service.
