The Regional Municipality of York to hold Neighbourhood Information Session in the Town of Aurora

Local input requested on increasing existing capacity of pumping station
NEWMARKET – The Regional Municipality of York will be hosting a Neighbourhood Information Session to receive input from members of the public and review agencies on the Region’s plan to increase the existing capacity of the Orchard Heights Booster Pumping Station, located on Orchard Heights Boulevard in the Town of Aurora.
 
This meeting will assist in determining a recommended solution for the increase in capacity.  Representatives from York Region and the project study team will be in attendance to provide both background information and details of the options being considered to date.

BACKGROUND: 
 
• York Region has initiated a Class Environmental Assessment (“Class EA”) study for this project under Schedule B of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (October 2000, as amended in October 2007)
 
• York Region’s Water and Wastewater Master Plan Update (November 2009) indicated the existing pumping station capacity requires expansion to adequately service future system demands
 
• The purpose of this Class EA study is to determine the preferred option to increase the existing pumping capacity of the Orchard Heights Booster Pumping Station to meet the growing needs of residents and businesses and to accommodate projected growth in York Region
