York Region donates ambulance to Haitian recovery efforts

Decommissioned EMS ambulance to be accepted by GlobalMedic at donation event
NEWMARKET – The Regional Municipality of York will host an event on Tuesday, June 29 to donate a decommissioned Emergency Medical Services (EMS) ambulance to GlobalMedic, a non-profit relief organization assisting survivors of Haiti’s devastating earthquake. 
 
The donation will support relief efforts and personnel in Haiti, providing medical attention to survivors.  The media is invited to attend the official donation ceremony.

Background:

York Region will be donating three decommissioned EMS vehicles in 2010 to further develop community partnerships and benefit various community organizations.
 
This is the first time York Region has donated an ambulance to GlobalMedic, a non-profit, volunteer organization offering emergency relief services to disaster victims, training to medical personnel and medications to developing and war-torn countries.
