The Regional Municipality of York to release guide to capital sources

Business owners need more information about financial resources
NEWMARKET - The Regional Municipality of York will release Guide to Capital Sources for York Region Entrepreneurs, a comprehensive guide to sources of funding and finance that are available to entrepreneurs in York Region, to participants of the upcoming 7th Annual York Small Business Enterprise Centre Conference.  The conference will be held at the Newmarket Theatre, on Tuesday, February 9th.
“Globally, we are at a significant juncture when new opportunities in information technology and new green industries are poised to surpass anything we’ve ever seen,” said York Region Chairman and CEO Bill Fisch.  “Our new Guide to Capital Sources will make a positive difference locally by helping to foster financially viable growth across the Region’s economy.”
The Guide to Capital Sources for York Region Entrepreneurs provides information regarding the types and sources of private financing and public funding, as well as business development resources and contact information for investor and financial institutions.
“This comprehensive guide to sources of funding and finance represents a tangible, long-term tool that The Regional Municipality of York and our nine local municipalities can use to assist entrepreneurs,” said Town of East Gwillimbury Mayor James Young, Chair of the Region’s Planning and Economic Development Committee.  “Our goal is to facilitate York Region entrepreneurs, who are working hard to develop opportunities, grow and expand.”
Sheba Siddiqui, host of “York Small Business TV,” a Rogers TV production, will moderate the February 9th full-day conference.  Public and private venture capitalists and financers of York Region start-ups, growth companies and mature businesses will be on hand to discuss funding opportunities. 
Topics include:
• Financing options in the current economic climate
• Paths to financing your next stage of growth
• A panel discussion on private financing opportunities
• Public funding opportunities such as federal stimulus programs
• A venture panel test drive of real life cases
