Weekend festivals to close portions of Major Mackenzie Drive and Yonge Street on September 19th

Temporary closures to accommodate Great Maple Cart Race and Thornhill Festival
NEWMARKET - " The Regional Municipality of York will be closing all lanes on the following portions of roads on Saturday, September 19th for the Great Maple Cart Race and Thornhill Festival.
 
Major Mackenzie Drive from Keele Street to McNaughton Road East in the City of Vaughan 
 
• The road will be fully closed to traffic from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. 
• Transit users should also expect some delays on YRT Routes 4, 22, 85, 87 and TTC Route 107.  Routes will be diverted around the closure.
 
Yonge Street from John Street to Centre Street in the Community of Thornhill
 
• The road will be fully closed to traffic from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. 
• Transit users should also expect some delays as YRT Routes 5, 77, 99 and Viva Blue.  Routes will be diverted around the closure.
 
Detours will be in place in both areas to help re-route motorists.
