YRT/Viva sheds some winter warmth this holiday season

 YRT/Viva staff to collect new mittens, hats and gloves at Holiday Parades in York Region
NEWMARKET – As an act of goodwill, York Region Transit (YRT)/Viva staff will be walking alongside a decaled holiday Viva bus in seven Municipal Holiday Parades this season, collecting new mittens, hats and gloves from spectators.  All items collected will be donated to three charitable organizations in The Regional Municipality of York.
 
The following three organizations in York Region will receive this year’s hat, mitten and glove donations:
 
• Blue Door Shelters (children’s sizes)
• Inn From The Cold Inc. (adult sizes)
• Street Outreach York Region – LOFT Community Services (adult sizes)
 
WHAT: YRT/Viva staff will be collecting new mittens, hats and gloves for charitable organizations while
            wishing parade goers a happy and safe holiday.  YRT/Viva staff will be wearing white and blue
YRT/Viva winter jackets and black branded mittens and will be carrying Viva branded eco-friendly  tote bags to collect the apparel.

Starts at Mohawk Gate, south on 10th Line to Main Street, ending at Mostar Street in Stouffville.

Giveaways: YRT/Viva stick-on tattoos and branded clip-on personal safety lights
For the past seven years, YRT/Viva has designed and decaled a holiday bus, participated in Holiday Parades throughout York Region and internally held local food drives and toy collections for underprivileged children during the holiday season. This winter, YRT/Viva is reaching out to the community to increase donations and give even more to those in need.
