The Regional Municipality of York to release long term destination development plan at tourism conference

NEWMARKET – The Regional Municipality of York will release the Long-Term Tourism Destination Development Strategy, a 10-year blueprint for tourism development in York Region. 
The document will be distributed to tourism industry stakeholders at the Region’s Annual Tourism Conference.

Media representatives are welcome to attend the Annual Tourism Conference. 
Along with a discussion of the 2010 Tourism Marketing Program, the conference will focus on the implementation tactics for the tourism strategy, including:
• Expanding tourism attractors
• Product sector development
• Strengthening strategic marketing
• Leadership and governance
• Sustainable funding
The conference will be attended by York Region’s tourism industry stakeholders, including representatives of York Region tourism attractions, events and business operators.
