The Regional Municipality of York and Town of Markham holding mock emergency reception centre exercise and open house

 

Event to educate residents on emergency preparedness and evacuation procedures

 

NEWMARKET – As part of Emergency Preparedness Week taking place throughout the week of May 3rd to 9th, The Regional Municipality of York and Town of Markham are holding a mock emergency reception centre exercise and open house tomorrow, Wednesday, May 6th.

 

Members of the public are invited to the Reception Centre and learn about the services available in an actual emergency situation requiring evacuation from their homes, including:

 

The exercise will also teach York Region residents living in the Markham area about the steps they can take to help their families become more disaster resilient.

 

WHAT: Mock emergency reception centre exercise and public open house

 

WHEN: Wednesday, May 6th, 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

 

WHERE: Milliken Mills Community Centre, 7600 Kennedy Road, Town of Markham
