The Regional Municipality of York extends hours at waste facilities to assist with clean-up efforts in City of Vaughan

Community Environmental Centre and Asian Longhorned Beetle yard waste facility  to extend hours until September 4th
NEWMARKET - "The Regional Municipality of York will be extending the hours of the McCleary Court Community Environmental Centre (CEC) and Asian Longhorned Beetle (ALHB) Yard Waste Drop-off facility in the City of Vaughan, to assist residents with clean-up efforts following the severe storms that passed through York Region on Thursday evening.  New hours will be in effect until Friday, September 4th.
 
Residents and small business owners may drop-off storm debris at the McCleary Court CEC, while contractors may drop-off yard waste at the ALHB facility.
 
The McCleary Court CEC, located at 130 McCleary Court in the City of Vaughan, will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days per week. Fees will be waived until September 4th for disposal of storm clean-up debris. The CEC will be expanding the types of materials it accepts to include storm clean-up yard waste.
 
Residents are encouraged, where possible, to separate their storm debris into these categories for recycling:
• Yard Waste: trees, limbs, branches, leaves, plants, sod
• Scrap Metal: metal railings, sheds, and metal flashing
• Dimensional lumber: must be clean and not painted
• Concrete and Rubble: broken patio stones
• Clean Fill: dirt and earth, must be clean
• Debris: all other waste that cannot be separated and requires landfill disposal
 
Contractors who are commissioned to clean-up yard debris for their customers you send their yard waste to the ALHB Yard Waste Drop-off facility, located at 8000 Dufferin Street (just south of Highway 407 on the west side) in the City of Vaughan.  Hours have been expanded from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days per week.  The facility will accept tree limbs and branches leftover from the storm.  Drop-off rates will still be in effect.
