York Region election sign recycling day is Saturday, October 18th

Drop off your corrugated plastic election signs for recycling free-of-charge
NEWMARKET – The Regional Municipality of York is offering a one-day election sign recycling drop-off this weekend in an effort to divert election sign waste from landfill.

Over the past two years, York Region has diverted nearly seven tonnes of election signs from landfill through this special recycling program.

Following the Federal election on Tuesday, October 14th, York Region will host a special drop-off day on Saturday, October 18th.  Candidates and campaign team members are invited to drop off corrugated plastic election signs free-of-charge at York Region’s Waste Management Centre from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Waste Management Centre is located at 100 Garfield Wright Boulevard in the Town of East Gwillimbury.

All signs being delivered must have fasteners, wood or metal stakes and wires removed prior to drop-off.  Signs with any remaining wood or metal attached will not be accepted.

Plastic film election signs will not be accepted.  York Region asks that campaign offices do not drop off any other recyclable materials, such as fine paper, with the election signs.
