York Region employees participate in Guinness World Record Walk Event to break world record promotes healthy-living and eco-friendly options

 
NEWMARKET Over 300 York Region employees will participate in a province-wide walk in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest number of people walking one kilometre simultaneously.  The record attempt is organized by The Ministry of Health Promotion and Green Communities Canada.

PHOTO-OPS:   Gathering will commence at 12:15 p.m.
    Walk will commence at 12:30 p.m.
 
BACKGROUND:
 
 The record is currently held by Western Australia with 100,915 participants in September 2006
 
 Wednesday, October 3rd is also International Walk to School Day (IWALK), and The Ministry of Health Promotion and Green Communities Canada encourages schools to register for the World Record Walk and make it part of the IWALK celebrations
 
 Other participants include schools, clubs, community groups, workplaces, municipal governments and individuals across Ontario.
