York Region to meet with residents June 19th to discuss Durham/York Waste Study and preliminary health study results

NEWMARKET – The Regional Municipality of York will be hosting a public consultation session on Tuesday, June 19th for residents to attend and learn more about the Durham/York Residual Waste Environmental Assessment (EA) Study being conducted by Durham and York Regions. 
The sessions will provide background information on the Study, identify accomplishments that have been achieved to-date and discuss the results of the preliminary Health Risk Assessment Feasibility Study.
The preliminary Health Risk Assessment Feasibility Study was undertaken by the consultants for York and Durham Regions as part of the ongoing EA Study and reports on the potential health and ecological impacts of the proposed Energy-from-Waste facility.
York Region is committed to an open and transparent Study process and is hosting an upcoming public session to provide an opportunity for residents to become engaged in the Study, learn more about the background work that has taken place and propose any questions or concerns that they may have to the Study team. 
Following public consultation, further studies will be conducted on all potential sites throughout the summer months and a preferred site will be recommended to York and Durham Regional Councils in Fall 2007.

The Information Session originally scheduled for Thursday, June 21, 2007 has been CANCELLED due to a scheduling conflict with the Town of East Gwillimbury’s Green Bin Collection Open House. 
Residents are encouraged to attend the Town of East Gwillimbury’s Green Bin Collection Open House on Thursday, June 21st at the Town’s Civic Centre, 19000 Leslie Street, Sharon, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
