NEWMARKET – York Region Chinese Health Information Network is hosting a health fair for the Chinese community. The one-day event provides Chinese families living in York Region the opportunity to gain knowledge and raise awareness about health issues, link with services and resources available within their community and enhance skills to make healthier lifestyle choices.

9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
WHERE: Milliken Mills High School
7522 Kennedy Road, Unionville
COST: Admission is free
Services are offered in both Chinese and English
The health fair will include over 28 interactive displays featuring the many programs and services that are available within the Chinese community. Free services including community flu, children’s dental screening and blood pressure clinics are available through out the day.
Three educational workshops are also available for participants, they are:
Breast and Cervical Health Awareness 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Osteoporosis Prevention 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Heart Health 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
The York Region Chinese Health Information Network is a newly formed not-for-profit group that was established in March 2006. The coalition members share a common interest in promoting a healthy lifestyle by working collaboratively to provide health-related services and resources to the Chinese community in York Region. Network members include: York Region Health Services, Carefirst Seniors & Community Services Association and the Centre for Information & Community Services.
