Ontario Emergency Commissioner Julian Fantino to kick off National Emergency Preparedness Week in York Region
May 8 th event to highlight measures families can take to be better prepared
NEWMARKET ¡V Ontario Emergency Management Commissioner Julian Fantino will kick off National Emergency Preparedness week in Ontario ¡V May 7 through 13 ¡V at an event hosted by the Regional Municipality of York to highlight the simple measures families and individuals can take to lessen the consequences during the first 72 hours of an emergency or disaster.
The May 8th kick-off event, which will take place at the Community Safety Village at Bruce¡¦s Mill Conservation Area, will examine the types of emergency and disaster situations that could occur in the Greater Toronto Area and across the province, and the necessity for planning by families and local communities.
The event will also showcase York Region¡¦s Emergency Preparedness Guide and provide a media show-and-tell of the essential items that families should put together in an Emergency Preparedness Kit for both evacuation and remain-at-home emergency situations.
