York Region hosts reuse event during National Public Works Week

Reuse events part of Clear out Your Clutter promotion
NEWMARKET – As part of its Clear out Your Clutter promotion, the Regional Municipality of York is hosting a reuse event on Saturday, May 27th; one of a series of events to be held throughout spring 2006.  These events are being held for the third year in a row in partnership with Goodwill Industries.
The reuse events provide an opportunity for residents to divert valuable material from landfill and give others a chance to use them.  In 2005, York Region residents participated in reuse events that diverted over 8,000 kilograms of reusable goods from landfill.
The first of three events offered this spring is taking place:
When:  Saturday, May 27th
 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Where: York Region Waste Management Centre
100 Garfield Wright Boulevard, East Gwillimbury
(Woodbine Avenue and Davis Drive area)
Goodwill trailer in parking lot facing the road
Items that will be accepted at the reuse event include gently used clothing (shoes, boots, belts, purses, hats, gloves, scarves etc.), CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes, battery operated items, power tools, housewares (dishes, glasses), books, games, toys, sporting equipment, home furnishings, jewellery, textiles and fabrics.
The May 27th event is taking place as part of the National Public Works Week celebration at the York Region Waste Management Centre, which will include tours of the centre, arts and crafts for the children and a viewing of the Region’s new waste management centre video.
