Partnership with Goodwill will help divert materials from landfill
NEWMARKET – The Regional Municipality of York has partnered with Goodwill for the third consecutive year to offer a series of donation drives in 2006 to help residents clear out their clutter. These donation events provide an opportunity for residents to divert valuable material from landfill and give other, less fortunate individuals, a chance to use them.
In 2005, York Region residents diverted 8,000 kilograms of reusable goods from landfill through Regional reuse events such as donation drives.
The final donation drive in the series of three offered this spring will take begin this Saturday at Vaughan Mills. The event will feature prizes, live entertainment and refreshments provided by Starbucks Coffee Company.
