The Regional Municipality of York to launch unique social housing recreation and sport project

 
NEWMARKET – The Regional Municipality of York will be launching a unique recreation and sport project targeted at children and families living in social housing communities.
 
The media is invited to the launch event, which includes a tour of a summer sport club in progress with children aged six years and older.
 
When:  Thursday, July 20th – 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
 
Where: John Fitzpatrick Steelworkers Housing Co-operative
  105 Weldrick Road East (south of Major Mackenzie Road, east of Yonge Street)

Background:
 
This project is a Communities in Action Fund initiative that is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health Promotion and York Region’s Community Development Investment Fund.
 
The Communities in Action Fund is designed to provide new opportunities for children and youth, especially those of low income families, to participate in sport and recreation activity.
