York Regional Forest to host event this Saturday


Learn about insects while enjoying the natural air conditioning of the York Regional Forest


NEWMARKET – The Regional Municipality of York is holding an event this Saturday, July 15th about forest insects and pests at the York Regional Forest. 


Individuals and families are welcome to attend the session taking place from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon at Eldred King Woodlands, 16232 Highway 48 (west side, between Aurora Road and St. John’s Sideroad).  Participants will learn about the good and bad about forest insects as well as impending insect invasions, including the Asian Long Horned Beetle and the Emerald Ash Borer.


Throughout the summer, come out and explore the natural air conditioning of the 5,000 acres of York Regional Forest on 18 different tracts (properties) across the Region.  Take a stroll, go for a hike or attend a forest event.
