York Region is an area of great cultural diversity. Statistics show that over 104,000 York Region residents are Chinese speaking, including 32% of Markham residents and 22% of Richmond Hill residents. A significant portion of new Chinese Canadians do not speak English as a first language and may experience challenges when seeking health information. In addition, many new Chinese Canadians are not aware of the great variety of health services available to them.

York Region Health Services is committed to ensuring that our programs and services reach across language barriers to ensure access for all. The Health Fair for the Chinese Community will include over 25 interactive displays on the many programs and services that are offered, a free flu clinic and a children’s dental screening clinic. From learning about child health and early development to tobacco education to early detection of cancer, there is something of interest for all ages.

Service will be offered in both Chinese and English. Admission is free.
