October 20th is Character Community Day


YORK REGION   The Regional Municipality of York and its local municipalities have proclaimed Wednesday, October 20th, 2004 as Character Community Day across York Region.
"Designating a special Character Community Day, the first one in York Region, will provide opportunities to focus on the 11 character attributes and the importance of incorporating them into every day actions and interactions," said Markham Mayor Don Cousens, Co-Chair of the York Region Character Community Council.
"These attributes respect, courage, responsibility, inclusiveness, honesty, fairness, integrity, optimism, compassion, perseverance and initiative   can be applied in business, education, community organizations and families."
Events are being planned in almost every municipality. The York Catholic District School Board and York Region District School Board will also be recognizing the day through a number of events.
The York Region Newspaper Group sponsored an "I Live with Character" writing contest to encourage readers to think and write about people who demonstrate good character.  Winners will be published in community newspapers during the week of October 18, 2004.
Rogers Television's new live show, Daytime, which will be dedicating its October 20th show to Character Community Day.  Guests will include motivational performer Errol Lee, who will be singing his own original songs that focus on good character, and Cora's Breakfast and Lunch will be cooking up a storm for Co-Chairs of the York Region Character Community Council, Markham Mayor Don Cousens and Aurora Mayor Tim Jones
Rogers Television can be found on Cable 10 in Newmarket, Georgina, East Gwillimbury and Bradford West Gwillimbury.   In Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham, Whitchurch-Stouffville, and King, Rogers appears on Cable 63.  Daytime airs live at 11:00 a.m. and again at 2:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
