Reusable household goods drop-off service in East Gwillimbury

NEWMARKET – The Regional Municipality of York, in partnership with Goodwill Industries, will have a truck available to collect reusable goods on Saturday, May 1st from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the parking lot at the East Gwillimbury Sports Complex.
The Sports Complex, located at 1914B Mount Albert Side Road in Sharon, will accept old clothes, shoes, books, toys, housewares and electronics that are in good condition, as part of a pilot project to recycle goods.
The drop-off coincides with East Gwillimbury’s Clean Up, Green Up Day, which features a number of events, displays and demonstrations, including a community garage sale and a non-blue box plastics recycling drop-off.
Residents are encouraged to bring their household goods so that others can use items they no longer require.  The drop-off is an excellent means of diverting unwanted items from landfills.
Drop-off locations are being considered for other locations in York Region, pending the success of the East Gwillimbury event.
For more information about the drop-off, please call 905-830-4444, extension 5717.
