NEWMARKET – The Regional Municipality of York was the recipient of five Economic Developers Council of Ontario's (EDCO) Ontario Economic Development Awards. The Awards recognize excellence in marketing and product development and were presented at EDCO's 46th Annual Conference last week in Toronto.
York Region's Tourism News publication placed first in the Tourism Publications, Industry Communique category. York Region was also recognized with Certificates of Recognition as finalists for its 2002 Visitors' Guide, Take a Hike Trail Guide, Economic Development publication series and 2002 Tourism Advertising Campaign.
Over 190 entries were submitted for judging, with 28 first place awards presented. Judging took place late last year by nine specialists in the marketing field.
"The judges were tough, settling for only those outstanding entries," said EDCO 1st Vice President, Norm Schleehahn, Business Development Consultant, City of Hamilton. "Winners of these awards should feel confident that their entries were the best."
