NEWMARKET – York Region Transit (YRT) staff welcomed new riders and thanked existing riders for choosing YRT during a customer appreciation event at Finch Station on Tuesday. The event coincided with a number of YRT activities, including a back-to-school promotion and the transfer of routes on Yonge Street and Bayview Avenue from GO Transit. On a typical weekday approximately 50,000 passengers use YRT services.
"We continue to welcome a number of new customers, from students using transit for the first time to former GO Transit users," said YRT General Manager Don Gordon. "The customer appreciation event is a great way to educate people about our transit services and thank all of our customers for their patronage."
The customer appreciation event also provided an opportunity for transit riders to receive the new YRT Route Map and Detailed Schedules, which explains new and existing routes, scheduling changes and services to York Region schools.
The new services YRT is now operating include:
Route 99 – Yonge ‘C’: Service along Yonge Street
Route 91 – Bayview: Service along Bayview Avenue
Cornell Express: Service between East Markham and the GO Finch Bus Terminal via Hwy 407
Overall, the customer appreciation event was a success, with passengers pleased with the information and personalized service provided by YRT staff.
