CITIZEN APPOINTMENT TO THE REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY OF YORK POLICE SERVICES BOARD


The Regional Municipality of York is seeking applications from individuals interested in serving as a Citizen Appointment to the Police Services Board, for a term not to exceed three years.

 

The Regional Municipality of York Police Services Board is responsible for the provision of police services, law enforcement and crime prevention within the Region of York.

 

In order to be eligible for appointment to the Police Services Board, you must be:

            -           a resident of the Region of York

-           a Canadian citizen at least 18 years of age

-           not a police officer

-           not a judge or justice of the peace

-           not a person who practices criminal law as defence counsel

 

Preference will be given to applicants with the following qualifications:

            -           a demonstrated history of community service

-           ability to devote at least 20 hours per month to Police

Services Board matters including availability during

business hours

-                      skills or leadership in business or a profession which

demonstrates ability to work effectively as a member of a board

 

Those persons interested in serving the York Region community in this capacity should contact the Regional Clerk's office at (905) 830-4444, Extension 1303 to receive a Regional Municipality of York Police Services Board appointment Application Form.  Application forms are also available on the York Region Web site at www.region.york.on.ca.  Please feel free to include a C.V.  Applications will be accepted until January 15, 2004.

Information is collected under the Police Services Act, s. 27 and used to determine suitability for appointment to the York Region Police Services Board.
