Regional Council is considering changing its composition and size to add a representative of the City of Vaughan to Regional Council.
Adding an additional member from the City of Vaughan would mean that it would be represented by 4 members and its representatives would comprise 20% of the 20 local representatives on Regional Council. Currently the City of Vaughan has 3 representatives, or 15.8% of the local representation on Regional Council. Its population is 210,000 or 25.8% of the Region's total population of 812,500 (June 2002). Regional Council's composition and size were last altered in 1988 when the Region's population was about 435,000.
