York Region Tourism releases 2002 Visitors Guide

NEWMARKET York Region Tourism's 2002 Visitors Guide was released at York Regional Council today. This year's Guide is bigger and better than ever, with 140 tourism partners promoting their attractions, venues and services in nearly 50 pages.

"Whether you already call York Region home, are entertaining visitors, or are first-time visitors," said Regional Chair Bill Fisch, "exciting year-round attractions await you in and around each of our nine communities."

York Region welcomes close to 1.7 million tourists every year. Located 15 to 20 minutes north of Toronto and extending to the shores of Lake Simcoe, York Region is home to Paramount Canada's Wonderland, the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, and the Angus Glen Golf Club.

Seventy-five thousand copies of the Guide have been produced. It is the key publication distributed to those making tourism inquiries by telephone and the internet. Copies are available at the York Region headquarters in Newmarket, at area municipality and Chamber of Commerce/Board of Trade offices, and through participating tourism establishments.
