NEWMARKET-- The Regional Municipality of York today officially launched its on-line Provincial Offences Fine .
"This Region is focused on using every strategy we can to be leaders in customer service," said Regional Chair Bill Fisch. "We want to explore all the technological routes possible to improve our service."
"This is an e-commerce solution driven by customer service," said Phyllis Carlyle, York Regional Solicitor and Commissioner, Corporate and Legal Services.
Since the downloading of Provincial Offences Act to municipal government in Ontario, The Region of York has undertaken customer service initiatives. In May 2001, residents were able to pay Provincial Offence fines at Automated Teller Machines (ATM) throughout York Region. Now customers have the added convenience of paying any Provincial fine on-line via York Region's Web site.
Residents can still pay Provincial offence fines by cash, cheque, money order/bank draft, or Interac at the York Region Provincial Offences Offices, located at 465 Davis Drive in Newmarket and 50 High Tech Road in Richmond Hill.
Common fines that can now be paid on-line include highway traffic, bylaw and liquor licensing offences.
